Dutch Record Label COLD BLOOD INDUSTRIES Calls It Quits

April 20, 2004

According to a posting at the LordsOfMetal.nl metal e-zine, the Dutch record label Cold Blood Industries has called it quits. As a result, five bands, including the groups AS IT BURNS, MONOLITH and KATAFALK, are currently without a record deal.

Cold Blood Industries employed two people on a full-time basis and released close to 25 metal CDs. The label attributed the decision to go out of business to disappointing sales of their CDs, which they blame on the current market conditions.

"The market for extreme metal is an extremely tough one at the moment," said Cold Blood Industries spokesperson Rogier Bos. "Every month sees the release of hundreds of new CDs, which makes it hard for us to sell a band. The Internet also makes it difficult for us to sell something that people cannot already get online for free."

All the recordings previously planned for release through the Cold Blood Industries sub-label Ebony Tears (including the bands NEMESEA, IMPERIA and TO ELYSIUM) will come out as scheduled.

Cold Blood Industries was founded in 1998 and has released CDs by such groups as GOD DETHRONED, SALACIOUS GODS, DEAD HEAD and THE WOUNDED, among others.
